Baseball Bags Win over NWOSU, 12-4

ALVA – Oklahoma Baptist used a four-run third inning on its way to an impressive 12-4 baseball victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State in Alva. The two teams will conclude the three-game series with a doubleheader starting Monday at 1 p.m.

Jake Gozzo and Eric Carlson each had RBI hits that preceded a two-run homer by Garrett McKee as OBU opened a 4-1 lead. The Bison held a slim lead throughout much of the game before breaking it open with seven runs in the final two innings.

Kaimana  Bartalome led off the eighth with a double and later scored on a wild pitch. P.J. Harris singled in Pledger who reached on a walk to put the Bison in front, 7-4.

The Bison's five-run ninth came primarily off the bat of Brock Carter whose bases-loaded single scored Carlson and McKee.

Jesus Chavez picked up the win in relief of starter Jake Lipetzky. Chavez went six and one-third innings allowed two hits and one run. He struck out five and improved his record to 3-0
