Bison Complete Three-Game Sweep of NWOSU

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist finished off Northwestern Oklahoma State in impressive fashion taking both ends of a baseball doubleheader Monday in Alva. The Bison were 21-10 and 11-8 winners to complete a three-game sweep of the Rangers.

OBU, now 8-6 on the year, will play instate foe Southwestern Oklahoma State Tuesday in Weatherford. The single, nine-inning game begins at 2 p.m.

In the 21-11 opening-game romp, OBU peppered five different pitchers with 13 hits in its season-high run total.  OBU had five home runs by four different players with Brock Carter leading the day with a pair of three-run dingers in the seventh and eighth.

The Bison opened front thanks to back-to-back home runs by Eric Carlson and Garrett McKee. NWOSU answered with seven runs in the first and carried an 8-6 lead into the fifth before the Bison took charge. OBU scored four runs in the fourth after three walks and a wild pitch. McKee had the only hit in the inning, a two-run double that put OBU ahead to stay 10-8.

Shane Kelso picked up the win in relief taking over for Thomas Shroder in the second inning.

In game two, OBU carried a 5-1 lead into the fifth. P.J. Harris, Kaimana Bartlome, and Carter all had solo homers in the third. NWOSU came back and owned an 8-7 lead entering the seventh and final inning. The game winner came off the bat of Carlson who smashed a two-run homer that scored Ramon Enriquez in front of him.

Matthew Wilson got the win in relief pitching the final three innings.
