ADA, Okla. – Oklahoma Baptist stayed step-for-step with East Central throughout much of the game, but it was the Tigers who came away with rugged 70-67 women's basketball victory.
The loss dropped OBU to 10-14 overall and 6-12 in the Great American Conference, while ECU improved to 17-7 and 12-6. The Lady Bison fell to ninth in the GAC standings. They are one game out of the important eighth spot currently held by Northwestern Oklahoma State. The top eight teams qualify for the GAC Tournament next month in Bartlesville.
OBU returns home for its next game when it hosts Arkansas Tech in the Noble Complex. Tipoff is set for Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
Charissa Price continued to play well for OBU finishing with 20 points, including four three pointers. Her last three with 22 seconds to play moved the Lady Bison to within one point at 68-67.
ECU's Madison Rehl, a 93 percent free throw shooter, was fouled with nine seconds remaining and hit both ends of the one-and-one.
OBU's
Raley Farquhar bounced a three-pointer off the front rim as time expired to preserve ECU's victory.
In addition to Price, OBU got double-figure scoring by
Katy Custer with 13 points and
Victoria Blankenship who added 12 points and had 10 rebounds. It was her ninth double-double of the season, the most of any player in the GAC.
