DURANT – Oklahoma Baptist split the final two games of its weekend baseball series with Southeastern Oklahoma Saturday. The Bison won the opener 11-3 while Southeastern bounced back winning the nightcap by the same 11-3 score.
The split left the Bison at 5-6 overall and 1-2 in conference play. OBU will next play Tuesday, weather permitting, against Central Oklahoma. First pitch is set for 5 p.m. in Shawnee.
In the opening win against SOSU, OBU hammered out 11 hits against five different pitchers, including three home runs.
Garrett McKee, who finished with a team-best three hits, put OBU in front 3-0 after his two-run blast in the second. P.J. Harris knocked his second homer of the season with a solo shot leading off the fifth. The biggest was saved for
Ramon Enriquez who cleared the bases with a grand slam in the sixth giving OBU a comfortable 11-2 lead.
The 11 runs were enough for
Thomas Shroder who worked six innings to pick up the win and even his season record at 1-1. He allowed four hits and two runs before giving way to
Caleb Bly who pitched the final three innings in relief to pick up the save.
In the second game, OBU trailed 7-0 before scoring three runs in the sixth inning on an RBI single by McKee and a two-run homer by
Jake Gozzo. The homer was Gozzo's fifth of the year, a team best.
