OBU Men Tabbed Third in GAC Polls

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. - The Oklahoma Baptist men's basketball team was selected to finish third in the Great American Conference this upcoming season as voted on by the GAC coaches on Thursday afternoon.

OBU will open their season with an exhibition on Halloween night against Oklahoma City beginning at 7 p.m. Their first regular season game will also be in Noble on November 8th as they take on Nebraska-Kearney at 7:30 as part of the Bison Conference Challenge.

Southeastern received eight first-place votes and edged out Southern Nazarene as the preseason favorites. The two-time regular-season and tournament champion Crimson Storm claimed the remaining four votes and took second in the poll.

Oklahoma Baptist claimed third, followed closely by Henderson State, Southern Arkansas and East Central. In Jason Eaker's first season with the Bison, they won six more games than in 2017-18 including their first win ever at the GAC Championships. They return three double-digit scorers from last year's team in Dishon Lowery, Harrison Stoddart and Brantly Thompson

Arkansas-Monticello placed seventh while Arkansas Tech took eighth.  Ouachita, Harding, Northwestern Oklahoma State and Southwestern Oklahoma State rounded out the poll.
