SHAWNEE – Fresh off their first win at the Chile Pepper Festival, and their second win of the season, the No. 25-ranked Oklahoma Baptist women's cross country team is set to host their home meet on Saturday, Oct. 12 at Gordon Cooper. The race is set to begin at 10 a.m.
The Bison have continued their dominant run in the regular season from last year, where they've finished third or better in their last six outings, not including championship meets. In that same span, OBU has bested every Division II opponent they've come across, only falling to Division I teams in Tulsa and Missouri State.
Despite having only two races under their belt this season, the Bison have shown improvement. Between the Central Oklahoma Land Run on Sept. 7 and last weekend's Chile Pepper Festival, OBU has shaved nearly a full minute off their team's average time. The team finished their last meet in an average time of 18:41.38.
Oklahoma Baptist took home first in last year's OBU Invitational despite hot and muggy conditions. With an average scoring time of 18:57.59, the Bison were paced by
Sydney Lawrence's time of 18:23.34. Six of OBU's seven scoring runners finished inside the top 10.
