FAYETTEVILLE, AR – Adelaide Murphy turned in a time of 17:16.8 to finish 32nd and Oklahoma Baptist women's cross country finished 13th at the Harter's Habanero 5K at the Arkansas Chile Pepper Festival on Saturday, Oct. 3.
In a loaded 29-team field that included top teams from both the Division I and Division II levels, the Bison turned in a solid performance with four runners finishing in the top 100 in a field that included more than 250 individual competitors.
Murphy's time was a new personal-best and was nearly a full-minute faster than her previous career-best mark (18:08.9), while
Trista Murphy finished 53rd and also beat her previous personal record by nearly a minute by turning in a 17:47.1.
Kieran Paxton finished with a time of 18:05.9, setting a new personal best while finishing 79th.
Yadira Barbosa finished 94th with a new personal-best time of 18:17.2, crushing her previous career best (19:10.9).
Kiara Flame Smith (19:32.6),
Zoe Strange (19:32.7),
Alexa Arzate (20:14.0), and
Lilly Walls (20:52.0) also set new personal bests in the 5K.
Oklahoma Baptist is slated to run again at the Dallas Baptist Old Glory Gallop on Saturday, Oct. 17, its final meet before the Great American Conference Championships on Saturday, Nov. 7.
