CLAREMORE – Oklahoma Baptist's women's cross country team had a strong showing on Sept. 3 during Rogers State's season-opening Distance After Dark race.
The Bison claimed third overall and watched as sophomore
Adelaide Murphy earned a team-best eighth-place individual finish. She finished the 5K race – which started past 10 p.m. – with a time of 18:08.9, a personal-best.
Teammate
Trista Murphy was OBU's next-best finisher. Another second-year runner, she took 14th overall with a time of 18:31.5.
Rounding out OBU's top finishers were freshman
Yadira Barbosa and senior
Shayna Hendrix. Those two placed 29th and 30th, respectively, with marks of 19:10.9 and 19:12.6.
After that,
Kieran Paxton and
Mekenzie Lyda clocked times of 19:18.5 and 19:19.0, respectively. That was good for 34th and 35th place.
The Bison have plenty of time before their next race. That comes Saturday, Sept. 26 at Oklahoma State's Cowboy Jamboree.
