SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist's
Brantly Thompson was recognized as the Great American Conference Men's Basketball Player-of-the-Week for leading the Bison to a pair of road victories at Harding (Ark.) and Arkansas Tech.
Thompson, a 6-4 sophomore guard from Tuttle, averaged 19.5 points and 5.5 rebounds to keep OBU atop the GAC Standings with a 7-1 record. Thompson is the second OBU player to win the award after
Davion Turner was named the Week 4 winner in December.
Thompson is averaging 11.4 points and 3.9 rebounds a game. He leads the Bison in three-point field goals made with 28. He has made at least one three pointer in 13-of-14 games, including the last 12 in-a-row.
Thompson and his Bison teammates will next be in action Thursday, Jan. 17 against longtime rival Southern Nazarene. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Noble Complex in Shawnee. OBU students will receive free limited edition "Ka-Rip, Ka-Rap" T-shirts while supplies last as part of a special "White Out" promotion.
