SHAWNEE – Five Oklahoma Baptist women were named to the 2018 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field All-Central Region team, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced.

All-Region honors are awarded for posting a top-five individual finish in each of the eight regions in addition to each member of a top-three relay team in the region. This season marks the first for OBU athletes to be eligible for the distinction.

Breanna Hurlbut,
JoziRose Mayfield,
McKae Mitchell and
Sherine Van Der Westhuizen earned All-Region status in the 4x400-meter relay. They set the No. 8 time in the country in 3:42.03 at the Drake Relays. Mayfield, Mitchell and Van Der Westhuizen were also named All-Region in the indoor season for the 4x400 relay.

Abby Hoover was named All-Region in the 5000-meter run with the 36
th-fastest time this season at 17:04.50, set at the Oxy Invitational. Hoover earned All-Region status for the same event during the indoor season.

The NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field National Championship begins May 24 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
