Saleem Fadel set a Great American Conference record Friday to push OBU into second place through two days at the GAC Track & Field Championships.

The Bison have scored 39 points and trail Harding at 55 points with only Saturday's events remaining. Southern Arkansas is third with 29 points.

Fadel won the men's hammer throw with an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying distance of 118' 11.3" (57.59 meters), setting a GAC record.

Davey Cleveland finished fifth in the decathlon with 4960 points and
Kolten Speaks was sixth after scoring 4859 points.

Blaine Whitson took fifth place in the 3000-meter steeplechase in 9:34.20.

In the final men's event of the night,
Jacob Janzen finished third in the 10,000-meter run in 31:48.87 and
Patrick Harris was fifth with a time of 31:59.34.

Jacob Power scored in the discus throw with a third-place finish at 151' 3.7" (46.12m).
Jacob Cochran was fourth at 138' 8.6" (42.28m).
Edgar Villarreal placed third in the hammer with a throw of 138' 3.1" (42.14m).

Due to darkness, the javelin throw was postponed until Saturday at 9 a.m. Field events are scheduled to resume at 10 a.m. with running events set for a noon start.
