Lady Bison Win Nine Events Thursday

SHAWNEE – (Results) Oklahoma Baptist women's track and field won nine events Thursday at the OBU Early Outdoor Invitational to open up the outdoor season.
 
The Lady Bison battled windy conditions at the Hurt Memorial Track in the first of three home meets for OBU this spring. Nine other teams competed in the meet, including six members of the Great American Conference.
 
McKae Mitchell finished second in the 200 meter dash in 24.87 and Sherine Van Der Westhuizen was third at 24.90.
 
Beyel Tubbs picked up a third place finish in the 400 meter dash, finishing in 1:01.91.
 
In the 800 meter run, Tesa Potter took first place with a time of 2:22.48 and Kya Barnes was third in 2:24.71.
 
Zoya Timoshenko won the 5000 meter run in 19:59 and Emily Sechrist took second in the 1500 meter run at 5:04.66.
 
OBU swept the hurdles events, with Leah Molter winning the 100 meter hurdles in 14.38 and JoziRose Mayfield taking the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.78. Isabella Lotz finished third in the 100 hurdles at 15.08 and Molter was second in the 400 hurdles after finishing in 1:08.01.
 
All three participants in the 3000 meter steeplechase were Lady Bison runners. Sechrist won the event in 11:56.99, Allison Derry took second at 12:50.30 and Ashley Scrivner finished in 13:46.90 for third place.
 
The Lady Bison swept the relay events, winning the 4x100 meter relay in 47.59 and the 4x400 meter relay with a time of 4:00.07. Van Der Westhuizen, Mitchell, Molter and Shariah Anderson ran the 4x100 and a team of Mitchell, Mayfield, Barnes and Van Der Westhuizen dominated the 4x400 by over 11 seconds.
 
Evelyn Carswell finished runner-up in the high jump after clearing 5' 3.8" (1.62 meters).
 
Junior Payton Wilson took first in the pole vault with a height of 10' 4" (3.15m).
 
In the long jump, Lotz took second at 17' 7" (5.36m). She also won the triple jump with a distance of 35' 10.7" (10.94m).
 
Julianna Horner threw the shot put 40' 11.7" (12.49m) for a second place finish, third in the discus throw at 118' 8" (36.17m) and runner-up in the hammer throw in 154' 4" (47.04m).
 
Brittany earned second in the discus at 120' 6.8" (36.75m) and Raigan Servati took third in the javelin throw at 71' 0.4" (21.65m).
 
Oklahoma Baptist will take off next week for Spring Break and then host the OBU Invitational on March 30-31 at the Hurt Memorial Track.
