SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist scored 42 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Manhattan Christian to finish a three-game season-opening sweep Saturday.

The Bison won 21-0 and 21-4 after a 12-0 win Friday.

Brett Bloomfield and
Zane Gelphman had four hits each in the opener with
Caleb Stull,
PJ Harris and
Austin Cooper getting two apiece in the 20-hit output. Harris and Cooper had a pair of doubles each.

Zach Fowler (1-0) got the win, striking out seven in three innings.
Hudson Pearson and
Chris Kovach threw two shutout innings each with Pearson fanning four and Kovach two.

OBU scored four in the first on a two-run home run by Gelphman and a two-run double by Harris.

Six more runs crossed for OBU in the second, including a three-run home run by Jake Gozo, a two-run double by
Juan Gonzalez and bases-loaded walk by
Josh Timms.

The Bison grabbed single runs in the third and fourth on a sacrifice fly by Timms and an RBI single by
Brett Bloomfield.

OBU added seven in the fifth on a home run by Stull, an RBI double by Cooper, a two-run single by
Brett Berghammer, a two-run home run by Bloomfield and an RBI single by
Bryan Geurkink.

The final two Bison runs crossed in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Berghammer and a single by Gelphman.

Caleb Bly got the win in the second game, going four perfect innings and ending with 11 consecutive strikeouts.

The Bison had 14 hits, including two each by Berghammer,
Matt Poulin,
Brock Carter and
Garrett McKee.

MCC snapped OBU's scoreless inning streak at 19 with two runs in the sixth and two more in the seventh. The Bison staff allowed only one earned run in the series.

OBU scored 10 runs in the first inning, which included an RBI triple by Bloomfield, a sacrifice fly by Gelphman, a three-run triple by Carter, an RBI double by McKee, an RBI walk by Poulin, an RBI single by Berghammer and a two-run double by Gonzalez.

The Bison added two in the second, including an RBI walk by
Trevor Tanner.

OBU added eight in the third, including an RBI walk by Cooper, a two-run double by Geurkink, an RBI single by Tanner, a two-run single by Poulin and an RBI single by Carter.
