SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist took two games from Ouachita Baptist Saturday, winning 5-3 in the opener and 5-2 in the second game.

The Bison opened the scoring in the second inning with an inside-the-park home run by
Josh Timms when the Ouachita Baptist right-fielder crashed into the wall attempting the catch and was unable to retrieve the ball.

OBU added another run in the fifth when
Garrett McKee tripled and scored on a double by
Brett Bloomfield.
Â
Roy Verdejo added an RBI double and later scored on an error for a 4-0 Bison lead in the sixth.
Â
Ouachita scored three times in the seventh after OBU starting pitcher
Albertus Barber (3-0) exited the game after being struck by a line drive.
Â
Zane Gelphman got the Bison an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh.
Â
Barber struck out six in 6.1 innings and
Nick Burnham got a seven-out save with five strikeouts.

The Bison had a season-low eight hits in the game, including two each by Timms and
Jake Gozzo.
Â
Gelphman hit his second home run of the day and sixth of the season in the first for a 1-0 Bison lead in the second game.

OBU went up 3-0 in the fifth on RBI doubles by Verdejo and
Brett Berghammer.
Â
OBU tacked on two more runs in the sixth on a two-run double by
Matt Poulin.
Â
Zach Fowler (2-0) went the distance for the Bison, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out 10.
Â
The Bison had six hits in the game, led by Berghammer with two.

The battle of OBUs continues Sunday with a 1 p.m. game.
