Bison Tame Tigers in GAC Action

Box Score (html)

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist used a 17-2 run to open the second half to put down East Central, 76-66, inside Mabee Arena at the Noble Complex to move to 2-1 in the Great American Conference standings.

Oklahoma Baptist went into halftime nursing a narrow lead, 36-35, over ECU, with Dishon Lowery leading the way with eight points and nine rebounds. The Bison offense then went on a dominating run, sparked by 3-pointers from Julian Daughtry, to open the second half before keeping ECU at arm's length the rest of the way.

It's the first time OBU has opened league play 2-1 since moving to the GAC ahead of the 2015-16 season, and the Bison remain a perfect 3-0 on the home court.

The Bison helped maintain their lead throughout the game by bucking a season-long trend of struggling at the line. Oklahoma Baptist went 21-of-25 from the charity stripe, paced by Lowery's 8-of-10 performance.

Lowery led OBU with double-double consisting of 12 points and a career-high 16 rebounds. Antonio Wade joined Lowery with 12, followed by Mohammed Abubakar's 10 points.

Oklahoma Baptist (3-4, 2-1 GAC) return to action on Saturday, Dec. 15 when they travel to Weatherford to face Southwestern Oklahoma State at 3 p.m.
