Lady Bison Pass First Road Test

Box Score (html)

SHAWNEE – Autumn Avina poured in 21 points and tied her own Great American Conference record with 14 assists as the Lady Bison dropped Northwestern Oklahoma State, 92-83, for their first win on the road this year. The win also moves OBU to 1-1 in the GAC on the opening weekend of conference action for the second straight year.

After falling behind 17-2 midway through the first quarter, Katy Custer sparked a 23-4 run over four minutes to give OBU a lead they'd never relinquish. The Lady Bison would grow the lead to as much as 44-31 going into the second quarter before keeping the Rangers at arm's length in the second half to seal the win.

Avina led the way with 21 points, followed by Victoria Blankenship with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting. Mikayla Shulanberger (15p, 10r) and Katy Custer (13p, 10r) joined Avina with a double-double each. Imari Bell was the final Lady Bison to touch double figures in the game, chipping in with 11 off the bench.

Oklahoma Baptist (4-3, 1-1 GAC) return to action on Tuesday, Dec. 4 when they welcome East Central to Mabee Arena at the Noble Complex for a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
