SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist saw a 12-point halftime lead evaporate as the Lady Bison fell, 78-76, to Southeastern Oklahoma State on the opening night of Great American Conference action. The loss moves OBU to 3-3 overall to close out an extended homestand inside Mabee Arena at the Noble Complex.
 
Autumn Avina powered the Lady Bison throughout the game, tying the GAC single-game record with 14 assists in the loss while pouring in 13 points to go along with seven rebounds.
 
The Lady Bison built up their lead by shooting 45 percent from the field in the first half. However, OBU converted on just one 3-point attempt per quarter after three makes from beyond the arc in the first period of play.
 
Victoria Blankenship led OBU with 17 points, followed by 
Katy Custer and 
Mikayla Shulanberger with 16 apiece. Custer joined Avina, completing her double-double with a team-high 10 boards.
 
Oklahoma Baptist (3-3, 0-1 GAC) travel to Northwestern Oklahoma State on Saturday for their first road test on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
