WEATHERFORD, Oklahoma – Oklahoma Baptist struggled in serve-receive and fell, 3-1 (24-26, 23-25, 25-17, 23-25), to Southwestern Oklahoma State in an otherwise closely contested match between the top two Oklahoma teams in the Great American Conference. With the loss, OBU splits the season series with the Bulldogs.

The Lady Bison committed 12 service errors, and also committed seven reception errors in the loss. With the ball in play, OBU outscored the Bulldogs, owning a 64-55 advantage in kills.

Trailing 2-0 after two sets decided by four points, OBU were dominant in the third set. The Lady Bison laid down 17 kills while hitting .364 and limiting SWOSU to a hitting percentage of just .067. Oklahoma Baptist had five blocks in the set.

Mikayla Watson and
Malia Leatherland did the heavy lifting for OBU, tallying 21 and 18 kills respectively.
Hayden Blair assisted on 40 kills for the match.

Defensively, Watson completed her second double-double of the week with a team-leading 26 digs, followed by
Kelsi Chavez with 20. Blair and Leatherland both also completed double-doubles with 14 and 13 digs, respectively.

Oklahoma Baptist (14-15, 7-6 GAC) are off until Thursday, Oct. 25 when they travel to Alva for a meeting with Northwestern Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. The Lady Bison will be looking to complete the series sweep.
