ALVA, Oklahoma – Despite a 3-2 (26-24, 19-25, 25-15, 24-26, 13-15) setback against Northwestern Oklahoma State on the road in Alva on Thursday night, Oklahoma Baptist volleyball punched its ticket to the Great American Conference Tournament in two weeks' time.

The Lady Bison qualified for the GAC Tournament after rival Southern Nazarene dropped Southeastern Oklahoma State in straight sets in Bethany on Thursday. It's the second straight GAC Tournament berth for the Lady Bison since becoming eligible for NCAA Division II postseason play last season.

Oklahoma Baptist was led by the tandem of
Mikayla Watson and
Malia Leatherland, who both recorded double-doubles on the evening. Watson had a team-best 22 kills that she paired with 18 digs, while Leatherland laid down 20 kills and dug out 16 balls.

Also touching double figures in kills was
Nicole Fleitman with 11.
Hayden Blair handed out 58 assists.

Defensively, OBU was led by
Kelsi Chavez with 22 digs.
Destiny AbuBakir-Temple had a team-leading six total blocks, including one solo block.

Oklahoma Baptist (14-16, 7-7 GAC) returns to Mabee Arena for the final time in 2018 when they host Southeastern next Tuesday, Oct. 30 for Senior Night at 5:30 p.m.
