Bison Fall to No. 5 Ouachita

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist posted 21 points against the top scoring defense in NCAA II, but fell to No. 5 Ouachita Baptist 58-21 Saturday at Crain Family Stadium and the Hurt Memorial Athletic Complex.
 
Tyler Stuever rushed for 97 yards and two touchdowns and Preston Haire ran for another. Haire completed 19 of 32 passes for 236 yards.
 
Ouachita Baptist scored a 43-yard field goal by Cole Antley on its first drive for a 3-0 lead with 12:35 left in the opening quarter. The next three Tiger drives resulted in touchdowns and OBU trailed 24-0 with 14 seconds left in the first period.
 
OBU missed a chance to put points on the board when a 41-yard field goal attempt by Luke Wendl bounded off the left upright. Ouachita marched for a 31-0 lead on the ensuing possession.
 
The Bison scored on their next drive, going 75 yards on six plays. Cagney Roberson had a 21-yard reception and Stuever covered the final 40 yards on a powering run through the middle of the field. Wendl added the PAT to make it a 31-7 game with 4:50 left in the half.
 
Ouachita scored one more touchdown before the break for a 38-7 halftime lead.
 
The Bison scored on a seven-play, 75-yard drive in the third quarter. Stuever had a 12-yard run and Roberson pulled in passes from Haire for gains of 39 and 14 yards to set up a two-yard scoring run by Stuever with 4:23 remaining in the third quarter.
 
Haire scored from three yards out to cap an 11-play, 74-yard march, highlighted by Haire completions to Noah McGraw of 24 and 18 yards and a 13-yard pass to Roberson.
 
Roberson had five receptions for 85 yards and McGraw tacked on four catches for 94 yards.
 
Felipe Alvear had nine tackles for the Bison and shared a tackle for loss with Robert Lolofie. Lolofie had a sack and 1.5 tackles for loss.
 
Now 2-5 on the season, the Bison travel to Monticello, Arkansas, taking on Arkansas-Monticello at 3 p.m., Saturday.
