SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist enters the 2018 softball season at the Southeastern Regional Invitational in Durant, playing four games, starting Friday.
 
OBU opens with Tarleton State at noon, followed by Pittsburg State at 2:30. The Lady Bison play Washburn Saturday at 9:30 a.m. and finishes the trip at noon, taking on Missouri Southern State.
 
Tarleton State was 35-22 last season, PSU was 42-19, Washburn went 25-30 and MSSU went 27-30.
 
The Lady Bison return five starting position players from last season's NCCAA national championship squad. Sophomores Cheyenne Demaree (.346 batting average, 25 RBI) and Shelby Savage (.309, 22 stolen bases) are the team's two leading returning hitters.
 
OBU opens the season with 12 tournament games spaced over three weeks before opening at home against Henderson State Feb. 23.
