SHAWNEE – Fresh off a 2-1 road win over Oklahoma Christian on Thursday night, the Oklahoma Baptist men's soccer team looks to make it two wins in as many tries when they head to Chickasha to face the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma on Saturday at 7 p.m.
Thiago Dos Santos picked up where he left off last season for Oklahoma Baptist (1-0) after picking up a goal and an assist against the Eagles in the squad's season opener.
Martin Romero also got in on the action, tapping in a cross sent in by Dos Santos for OBU's first goal of the season. The Bison took 11 shots on the evening, including seven on goal.
Oklahoma Baptist's defense permitted 12 shots, but did well to make sure the chances weren't threatening as only four efforts towards goal for OC were put on frame.
Parker Lawter, who made his debut for OBU on Thursday, saved three, and currently owns a .750 save percentage and 1.00 goals-against average.
The Drovers (3-1) rebounded after a season-opening loss to Missouri Valley and enter Saturday's meeting riding a three-match winning streak. Over that stretch, USAO has outscored opponents 29-2, with 19 of those goals coming in a rout of Jarvis Christian, 19-0. Igor Stojanovich leads the team with seven goals, while Walton Domingos is second on the team with five tallies. Caleb Swanepoel and Milos Milovic have each appeared twice in goal, combining for a .667 save percentage and 1.00 GAA.
Last season, OBU dropped USAO, 3-1, in Shawnee thanks to goals from
Jonathan Martinez and Dos Santos. A win on Saturday night would mark just the second time in program history that Oklahoma Baptist has won consecutive matches against the Drovers.
