Lady Bison Sweep East Central

SHAWNEE – (HTML Stats) Oklahoma Baptist rolled to their fourth straight victory Tuesday, defeating East Central 3-0 (25-15, 25-10, 25-18) in a Great American Conference match at the Noble Complex.

The Lady Bison (9-7, 4-0 GAC) took advantage of the stagnant Tigers (4-12, 0-4 GAC) offense, limiting East Central to negative-.075 hitting percentage for the match. ECU hit for a negative percentage in each of the three sets.

A 7-0 run early and a 6-0 stretch late helped OBU take the first set efficiently. Leading 4-2 in the second set, the Lady Bison put the frame out of reach with a 12-2 run. OBU hit .376 as a team in the second set for a wire-to-wire victory. The Lady Bison put the Tigers away with a convincing seven-point win in the final frame.

Redshirt freshman Mikayla Watson paced the team with 14 kills on a .448 hitting percentage, and added 12 digs for her seventh double-double. It also marks the second time this season Watson has eclipsed the .400 mark for a match.

Hayden Blair finished with 25 assists, Suzanny Figueiredo posted 19 digs and Nicole Fleitman picked up two solo blocks and four block assists.

OBU travels to Weatherford Tuesday to face Southwestern Oklahoma State in the final match of September for the Lady Bison.
