SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist's
Lacey Herbert and
Emily Sechrist are members of the 2016-17 CoSIDA Academic All-America Division II Women's Track & Field/Cross Country teams, it was announced Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Herbert was named to the First Team after finishing her senior year with a 4.00 grade point average as an Elementary Education major. She was an NCCAA Indoor and Outdoor National Champion.

The native of Perryton, Texas, was the heptathlon champion at the 2017 NCCAA Outdoor National Championship and the Great American Conference heptathlon champion. She also won the pentathlon at the 2017 NCCAA Indoor National Championship.

Sechrist earned Second Team honors as a Special Education major with a 4.00 GPA. The junior from Hillsboro, Kansas, won the 3000 meter steeplechase at the 2017 NCCAA Outdoor National Championship and the GAC Championship, and was named NCCAA All-America.

She also was named All-GAC in cross country and was the GAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week four times in the fall. Sechrist was also named to the GAC Academic Honor Roll.

CoSIDA Academic All-America selections are chosen from All-District winners, as voted on by CoSIDA members. To be nominated for CoSIDA All-District, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average at his/her current institution.
