Bison Open Regional Thursday Night

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist opens the NCCAA Central Regional Thursday with host Central Christian College at 8 p.m.
 
The Bison are the top seed in the eight-team tournament and are in Pool A. Each team plays three pool games with pool winners meeting in the championship game at 1 p.m., Saturday.
 
Also in Pool A are fourth-seeded Central Baptist (30-24), fifth-seeded Central Christian (14-35) and eighth-seeded Randall (3-50).
 
Pool B consists of No. 2 Colorado Christian (17-32), No. 3 Southwestern Christian (34-22), No. 6 Ecclesia (30-19) and No. 7 Dallas Christian (18-37).
 
OBU finishes pool action Friday with games against Randall at 5 p.m. and Central Baptist at 7:30 p.m.
 
The Bison (32-15) are hitting .306 this season. Brett Berghammer leads the team with a. 383 batting average. Josh Timms has 10 home runs and Zane Gelphman leads the squad with 53 runs batted in.
 
OBU has a 3.43 earned run average as a team, led by Jinny Parra at 2.60. Carson McPherson leads the Bison with 84 strikeouts in 63 innings.
 
Central Christian carries a .255 batting average, led by Mario Rivera at .333 while Zane Howard has 10 home runs and Hunter Wilcher leads with 47 RBIs.
 
Randall is on a 17-game skid. The Saints are batting .221 and are led by Tyler Spoon, who is batting .313 with three home runs and 26 RBI. The team has an 11.10 earned run average, led by Blake Tucker, who is 2-1 with a 2.93 ERA.
 
Central Baptist is batting .300 as a team, led by Jalin Lawson at .405 with 11 home runs and 50 RBIs. The Mustangs have a 4.89 team ERA. Ben Madison is the top starter at 6-3 with a 3.50 earned run average.
 
OBU's game with Central Christian will be the lone game the Bison play that will have live stats.
