SHAWNEE – Two Redlands Community College basketball players are transferring to Oklahoma Baptist for the 2017-18 season.
Â
Britt Hammons, a 6-6 forward, and Spencer Lindsey, a 6-9 forward, are the newest additions to the Bison roster.
Â
"Britt will bring a versatile inside-out scoring skill set and some toughness to the Bison," said OBU head coach
Quinn Wooldridge. "He's produced at a high level the last two years at Redlands and we expect the same out of him in an OBU uniform. He was an OCAC All-Conference performer this season and averaged 15 points and 7 rebounds."
Â
"Spencer has a unique ability as a post player to space the floor with his outside shooting. He finished really strong this season and will be a great compliment to our other front-court players," said Wooldridge.
 Â
Hammons played at Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City and was honorable mention All-Conference and the MVP of five tournaments.
Â
At Redlands, he was a two-time All-Conference selection.
Â
The son of Luke Whitmore and Kenzie Whitmire, Hammons was recruited by Southern Illinois, Rider, Eckerd, Southeastern Oklahoma State, East Central, Arkansas-Fort Smith and Langston.
Â
"I chose OBU because everyone there made me feel like I was wanted and I belonged," Hammons said. "Also, it was an opportunity to play another two years with my brother, Spencer. I feel like OBU is my home and I will do great academically and in basketball."
Â
Lindsey earned two tournament MVP and two Oklahoman Player of the Week (basketball and football) honors while at Christian Heritage Academy, where he was coached by OBU alumnus Heath Kufahl.
Â
Lindsey is the son of Ron and Julia Lindsey of Norman. He was recruited by Arkansas-Fort Smith and Nicholls State.
Â
"It is a good environment for me to become a good student and a good basketball player," said Lindsey.
