Bison Head to Butler County Grizzly Invite

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist track and field returns to action Saturday at the Butler County Grizzly Invitational, hosted by Butler Community College in El Dorado, Kansas.
 
The Bison and Lady Bison have met a combined 130 NCCAA national championship qualifying standards after just two outdoor meets this spring. Bison men have accumulated 49 qualifiers, while the women have met the standard 81 times.
 
OBU has posted several top marks in the NCCAA this year, including two each from McKae Mitchell and Leah Molter.
 
Mitchell owns the top time in the 100 meters (12.01) and the 200 meters (24.07). Molter posted the fastest time in the 100 meter hurdles (14.20) and the 400 meter hurdles (1:03.57). Kim Mead has the best long jump of the year (18' 4.25"), Jennifer Baker has the longest discus throw (146' 3"), and Lacey Herbert posted the top heptathlon score (4360 points).
 
Bison men have the fastest 4x400 meter relay of the season in 3:18.76. Spencer Lashley leads the NCCAA in the pole vault for the second straight semester (15' 1.5") and Jordan Patterson owns the best mark in the long jump (24' 2.25"). At the OBU Invitational, Hayden Ashley met the NCAA Division II "B" qualifying standard in the decathlon and finished with the top point total in the NCCAA this year at 6539 points.
 
 Both teams will compete in the single-day event for the second straight year. In 2016, Oklahoma Baptist set two meet records and met a total of 48 qualifying standards.
