Lady Bison Finish Strong at GAC Championship

SEARCY, Ark. – (Day 3 Results) Oklahoma Baptist wrapped up the Great American Conference Women's Track and Field Championship Saturday afternoon at Ted Lloyd Track Stadium.
 
The Lady Bison were not eligible for the team championship due to OBU's provisional status in the league. OBU won six events on Saturday.
 
Leah Molter won the 400 meter hurdles (1:01.72) and the 100 meter hurdles (14.12). Kya Barnes took first in the 400 meters in 57.23.
 
Kaylee Large finished first in the 5000 meters in 17:39.58. Destinee Allen won the 800 meters with a time of 2:14.85, finishing nearly two seconds ahead of the field.
 
McKae Mitchell, Abigail Mayfield, Breanna Hurlbut, and Barnes won the 4x400 meter relay in 3:48.94.
 
Large finished third in the 1500 meters in 4:44.78 and Sydney Lawrence was fifth with a finish of 4:51.60.
 
Mitchell took fifth in the 100 meters in 12.47 and Candis Rodgers was sixth with a time of 12.66.
 
Tia Coleman finished third in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:04.77 and JoziRose Mayfield was seventh in 1:06.99.
 
OBU dominated the 400 meters, with Barnes winning the event, Hurlbut (58.03) finishing second and Abby Mayfield (58.64) taking fourth.
 
Emily Sechrist finished fifth in the 5000 meters in 18:06.57.
 
A team of Mitchell, Shariah Anderson, Rodgers, and Molter finished second in the 4x100 meter relay in 47.75.
 
Tesa Potter was second in the 800 meters in 2:16.14, Shimoya Currie took third in 2:16.87, and Kysha Miller was fifth in 2:17.29.
 
Lacey Herbert took fifth in the 100 meter hurdles in 15.21.
 
Mitchell finished third in the 200 meters with a finals time of 25.03.
 
Sydney Long finished fourth in the long jump with a distance of 5.09 meters.
 
Raigan Servati and Long tied for third place in the high jump at 1.47 meters.
 
OBU had two top-five finishes in the javelin. Herbert (34.86 meters) was second and Katrina Horner (33.05 meters) took fourth.
 
Alexis Ozment and Payton Wilson tied for second place in the pole vault at 3.05 meters.
 
Jennifer Baker placed fourth in the discus (37.69 meters).
 
Brittany Poe was fifth in the discus (35.48 meters) and finished fourth in the shot put (11.74 meters).
 
Hollie Johnson registered a sixth place finish in the shot put at 10.53 meters.
 
Harding won the women's championship for the second straight year, finishing with 201 points to beat second place Southern Arkansas with 140 points. Unofficially, the Lady Bison would have won the meet had they been allowed to compete as a team, finishing with an unofficial total of 192 points to Harding's 130.
 
OBU heads to the Drake Relays next week, from April 26-29. Head Coach Ford Mastin will be officially inducted into the Drake Relays Hall of Fame at the meet.
