Bison Pummel East Central

ADA – Oklahoma Baptist completed a three-game sweep of East Central with a pair of wins, 16-2 and 9-1, Friday.
 
Josh Timms drove in seven runs and Zane Gelphman collected six RBIs in the two games.
 
Gelphman had all six of his RBIs and Timms four of his in the opener.
 
OBU scored four times in the first inning with a two-run single by Gelphman, an RBI single by Juan Gonzalez and a bases-loaded hit by pitch for Dustyn Cook.
 
The Bison made it 5-1 in the second on a Timms RBI fielder's choice.
 
OBU added four more runs in the fourth on a three-run homer by Timms and an RBI double by Cook.
 
The last seven runs came across in the sixth inning on an RBI grounder by Cook, an RBI single by Kevin Olmeda, a grand slam by Gelphman and an RBI single by Joe Moran.
 
OBU had 15 hits in the game, including three by Gelphman and two apiece by Brett Berghammer, Olmeda, Gonzalez, Timms and Hunter Heath.
 
Tyler Gibson (4-3) picked up the win with Brad Adams throwing two innings of scoreless relief. Gibson fanned six batters.
 
OBU again broke out early in game two, scoring four times on two-run singles by Gonzalez and Nick Burnham.
 
ECU made it 4-1 in the second, but got nothing else.
 
Timms hit a two-run home run in the third and two more runs scored – one on an error – on a Timms base hit in the fourth.
 
Kyle Abblitt ripped an RBI pinch-hit double in the sixth.
 
OBU had 11 hits, including three by Timms and two each by Berghammer, Olmeda and Gonzalez.
 
Carson McPherson pitched the final five innings of relief to get the win. He allowed no runs and fanned six batters.
