SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist and East Central start their softball series Thursday with a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader, followed by a Good Friday finale, starting at noon. The Thursday start time was moved up in an attempt to avoid rain.
East Central leads the all-time series 29-26-1. The Tigers have a two-game win streak in the series, having taken three of four in Ada last season.
East Central comes into the series with a 21-21 overall record and a 12-18 mark in the Great American Conference. ECU is hitting .264 as a team. Alissa Taylor is the leading hitter at .386. She also leads the squad with five home runs and shares the RBI lead with Ellanee Allison, each with 20.
East Central sports a 3.14 earned run average with Karlie Milburn leading the team with a 2.78 ERA. Milburn and Kelbie Crelia have been the primary starting pitchers. Milburn is 8-5 and Crelia is 8-8 with 57 strikeouts in 101 innings. The visitors from Ada are 5-7 away from home this season, 7-11 at home and a strong 9-3 on neutral fields.
