SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist track and field will host the OBU Invitational this weekend, with combined events and some field events starting Friday and the meet concluding Saturday.

This will mark the second consecutive home meet for the Bison and Lady Bison to open the outdoor season. Athletes from 22 men's teams and 23 women's teams will compete at the Hurt Memorial Track.

Action is set to start at 2 p.m. Friday, with the men's decathlon and women's heptathlon kicking off the meet. The combined events will lead off the day Saturday as well at 10 a.m. All running events are scheduled for the second day, beginning at noon. The javelin and hammer throw begin Friday at 4 p.m., with the remaining field events starting at 11 a.m. Saturday.

In the first meet of the season, Bison men met the National Christian College Athletics Association national championship standard in 18 events, and set the top mark in the NCCAA in seven events.

Five athletes qualified in the 110 meter hurdles, paced by
Cayden Spain in an NCCAA-leading time of 15.08.
Devontrae Young set the top time in the NCCAA this season for the 200 meters in 21.40.

Spencer Lashley owns the NCCAA's top spot in the pole vault with a height of 4.60 meters, and
Tanner Profice has the best mark in the long jump at 6.98 meters.
Jacob Cochran has the longest throw in the shot put (14.33 meters),
Zachary Medeiros own the NCCAA top distance in the hammer throw (41.59 meters) and
Hayden Ashley sits alone in the top spot for the javelin (49.30 meters).

After one meet, the Lady Bison have already met the NCCAA qualifying standard in 41 events. OBU women also own the top mark in the NCCAA in eight events.

McKae Mitchell has posted the NCCAA's fastest time in the 100 meters (12.01) and the 200 meters (24.07) this season.
Leah Molter owns the top times in both hurdle events, the 100 meter hurdles (14.20) and the 400 meter hurdles (1:05.81).
Kya Barnes ran the fastest time in the 800 meters, finishing in 2:20.31.

The 4x100 meter relay team of Mitchell,
Shariah Anderson,
Ruth King, and Molter posted the top time of the outdoor season, finishing in 47.36.

In the field events,
Kimberly Mead owns the NCCAA-leading long jump (5.59 meters), and
Jennifer Baker has the longest discus throw of the year at 44.59 meters.
