Golden Suns Visit For Weekend Series

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist returns after an eight-game road swing to face Arkansas Tech at Lady Bison Park Friday and Saturday.
 
The teams meet for at 4 p.m. doubleheader Friday and finish the series with a 1 p.m. twin bill Saturday. The first 100 fans Saturday receive an OBU drawstring bag.
 
Arkansas Tech, coached by Kristina McSweeney, has been one of the premiere teams in the Great American Conference. The Golden Suns hit .278 as a team with 19 home runs. They have a team earned run average of 2.14. Jalissa Gum has struck out 159 batters in 92.2 innings and carries a 1.89 earned run average. She also is tied for the team lead with six home runs. Megan Goodnight also has six home runs and a team-best 25 RBI. Sydnie Henson leads ATU with a .370 batting average.

Morgan Vaughan actually leads the Gold Suns pitching staff with an 8-1 record to go with her 1.24 earned run average.
 
Madison Vaughan leads the Lady Bison hitters with a .323 batting average, five home runs and 10 runs batted in. Haylee Zimmerman leads the squad with a 5-4 record and a 4.09 earned run average. As a team, the Lady Bison hit .261 and carry a 6.12 earned run average.
 
OBU is 3-3 all-time against Arkansas Tech and winners of three of the last four meetings - all in Russellville. OBU swept Tech in 2011 and split a doubleheader last year. Haylee Zimmerman claimed a 3-0 shutout of the Golden Suns as a freshman. The teams saw their four-game set rained down to two games last year.
