SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist returns to baseball action this weekend with a home and home set with Oklahoma Christian.

The Bison open the series with a home game Friday at 6 p.m. with a 1 p.m. doubleheader set at Oklahoma Christian Saturday.

OBU tossed a no-hitter in its last outing with
Carson McPherson,
Zach Fowler,
Blake Whitehead,
Jace Wilkins and
Nick Burnham combining for nine innings, no hits, three walks and a dozen strikeouts. Thanks to a pair of double plays (including a strikeout-throw-out), OBU faced just one batter over the minimum.

The Bison have yet to allow an earned run through 18 innings and have surrendered three hits.

Tyler Gibson have each fanned six batters in three innings.

Every starting position player and designated hitter got a hit Saturday so the Bison enter the weekend with nine players on hitting streaks and 11 on reached base streaks. Dating back to last season,
Hunter Heath is on a six-game hit streak and
Dustyn Cook has a five-game streak going. As far as reaching base,
Kevin Olmeda's current streak is 14 games,
Kyle Abblitt is at 11 and
Hunter Heath stands at 10.

Oklahoma Christian is 2-2 with 4.64 earned run average and a .246 batting average after four games in Grand Prairie, Texas.
