SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist will celebrate its seniors on Tuesday, Oct. 24 as the Bison wrap up their Great American Conference slate with a 7:30 p.m. tilt with Southern Nazarene at the OBU Soccer Complex.
Â
Oklahoma Baptist (6-7-1, 2-3 GAC) and Southern Nazarene (2-13-1, 0-5 GAC) picked up a pair of wins last week, with both teams dropping Upper Iowa and Southwest Baptist. With a win, OBU can potentially move into the No. 2 seed in the GAC Tournament, while SNU is firmly locked into the No. 4 seed without a win in conference play this year.
Â
The Bison are led offensively by
Thiago Dos Santos and
Luis Romero who both have five goals this term, while Dos Santos is third in the league with 14 points (5G, 4A). As a team, OBU leads the league with 28 total goals and is tied for the lead in assists with 16. When OBU and SNU met previously, the Bison set a GAC single-match scoring record with eight goals, and
Luis Romero became the fifth player, and fourth Bison, to record a hat trick in GAC history.
Â
Crimson Storm goalkeepers Dakotta Ellicott and Jeff Ray have a near even split in time spent between the pipes this year, combining for a 3.32 goals-against average and a GAC-best 120 saves. The SNU defense as a whole is allowing 21.7 shots per match and owns a minus-2.75 scoring margin.
Â
Oklahoma Baptist's defense is giving up just 12.4 shots per match, and has posted three clean sheets this year.
Parker Lawter has stepped back into the starting role in goal for OBU, and holds a 1.88 GAA and .627 save percentage while leading the team with 32 saves.
Â
Southern Nazarene has scored a league-low 10 goals this year, with 40 percent of their goals coming last week against UIU and SBU. Pedro Garcia leads the Crimson Storm with four goals.
