SHAWNEE – Looking for a second win to close out the week, Oklahoma Baptist welcomes Southwest Baptist to the OBU Soccer Complex for a Saturday afternoon tilt. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m.
Â
The Bison (5-7-1, 2-3 GAC) used a late goal by
David Estrada to get past Upper Iowa on Thursday night in their first outing of the week to halt a two-match skid. Southwest Baptist (1-11, 1-4 MIAA) has had a trying season, winning just one match all season, and haven't earned a victory since Sept. 29 when they topped the same Upper Iowa team OBU just dispatched.
Â
With five goals to their credit,
Thiago Dos Santos and
Luis Romero pace an OBU offense averaging 16.5 shots and 2.0 goals per match.
Alejandro Castillo is second on the team with four goals, while
Dominic Gibson has three tallies in his debut season on Bison Hill. Half of OBU's 26 goals have been assisted this season, with Dos Santos accounting for a team-high four assists.
Â
Oklahoma Baptist will look to enjoy a veritable shooting gallery as SBU is giving up 3.67 goals and 21.8 shots per outing this year. Matt Garza has seen the most action in goal for the Bearcats, and holds a 3.43 goals-against average and has picked up 58 saves to go along with one clean sheet.
Â
The Bearcats have been anemic on offense scoring just seven goals thru 12 contests this season while attempting just 6.9 shots per match. Jose Marrufo has a team-high two goals this year, converting 66.7 percent of his shots on-goal.
Â
Defensively, OBU is allowing 1.92 goals and 12.9 shots per match. Opponents aren't getting many solid looks at goal, with just 41.7 percent of their shots being put on-target.
Parker Lawter earned his first start in four matches on Thursday and picked up his second win of the year. For the season, Lawter holds a 2.08 GAA and .620 save percentage in 820 minutes of action.
