SHAWNEE – After suffering an extra-time heartbreak Thursday night, Oklahoma Baptist men's soccer will look to rebound when they play host to Ouachita Baptist on Saturday at 3 p.m. in a Great American Conference matchup at the OBU Soccer Complex.
Â
Oklahoma Baptist (4-6-1, 2-2 GAC) has won two of their last three, and previously beat the Tigers in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, 1-0, earlier this season. Ouachita (4-6, 2-2 GAC) put five past Southern Nazarene on Thursday to correct a two-match skid.
Â
The Bison lead the GAC with 23 goals scored this term, led by
Luis Romero who's scored four of his team-best five goals in his last two outings.
Thiago Dos Santos is second on the team with four goals, and also leads the league with four assists.
Â
Defensively, OBU holds a plus-one goal differential for the season, having allowed 22 goals in 11 contests.
Thomas Ackerknecht has started the last three matches in goal for OBU, going 2-1 over that span. The senior netminder has a 1.47 goals-against average and seven saves this season.
Â
Despite having the league's top goal-scorer in Tinashe Chigede, the Tigers are third in the league with 17 goals; Chigede has scored nearly half the team's goals with eight this year. However, Ouachita has the best average goal differential in the league at plus-.56. Most of the credit goes to Edward Pacheco who leads the league with two clean sheets, a 1.44 GAA and .780 save percentage.
