SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist Men's Soccer is set to play host to rival Southern Nazarene on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m. at the OBU Soccer Complex. The Bison will be looking to move to 3-0 in the GAC standings in their final home contest against Great American Conference competition this season.

Oklahoma Baptist (4-4-1, 2-0 GAC) has won their last two matches by a combined score of 7-2 against GAC foes Harding and Ouachita Baptist.
Vicente Castillo has proven why he is the reigning GAC Offensive Player of the Year, leading the league in every major offensive category, including goals (6), assists (4) and points (16). Overall the offense has recorded a league-leading 21 goals, and is second in assists at 12.
Luis Romero and
Thiago Dos Santos are tied for fourth with three goals each, while five other Bison have tallied at least one goal this season. Romero is currently riding a hot streak, having scored three goals and an assist in his last two matches while taking home GAC Offensive Player of the Week this week.

Defensively, Oklahoma Baptist posted their first-ever clean sheet against GAC opposition last Saturday when they blanked reigning GAC champion Ouachita, 3-0.
Thomas Ackernecht was credited with the shutout, and currently leads a trio of OBU keepers with a 1.33 goals-against average and .833 save percentage. He was honored as the GAC Goalkeeper of the Week this week, while
David Estrada earned Defender of the Week after a composed week in the heart of defense.

Southern Nazarene (1-7, 1-1 GAC) has struggled to generate much offense. Through eight matches, they've scored a league-low nine goals, led by Alan Armstrong with three. Only four of SNU's goals have come off an assist, and no player has established himself as the primary creative channel as four different players have one assist to their credit. In goal, Colton Hadlock holds a 3.57 GAA that's paired with a .709 save percentage.

The Bison have a respite from conference play after Saturday's contest. Oklahoma Baptist will return to the pitch on Monday, Oct. 3 for a 7 p.m. match against Jarvis Christian College.
