SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist followed up its Friday upset of No. 14 Washburn with a pair of four-set wins Saturday to close out the GAC-MIAA Crossover with a 3-1 record.

OBU defeated Southwest Baptist 25-16, 26-24, 23-25, 25-15 and Emporia State, 16-25, 25-18, 25-19, 28-26.

Against SBU, OBU got 15 kills from
Nicole Fleitman, followed by
Shekinah Sharpe with 12 and
Cadyn Laing with 10.
Kynnedy Myers had 40 assists.

Sierra VeraCruz had 25 digs and Sharpe added 14 while Laing posted six blocks.

OBU also was strong in service with 10 aces, including three by VeraCruz and two apiece by Sharpe and Myers.

In the win against Emporia State, Myers had a triple-double with 10 kills, 35 assists and 17 digs while Laing exploded with 10 blocks (2 solo, 8 assists).

Laing had a dozen kills with Fleitman adding 10. OBU added seven more aces, including two by Myers.

VeraCurz led with 21 digs, followed by Sharpe with 18 and Myers' 17. Â

Now 7-7, OBU returns to Great American Conference action Tuesday with a road trip to Durant and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
