MASON, Ohio – Brad Adams, making his first start of the season, combined with Trevor Ezell for six-hit shutout and a 3-0 win over Judson to complete pool play at the NCCAA World Series Thursday.
OBU will play at 4 p.m., Central, in the semifinals against Campbellsville or Bethesda.
Adams' 24th appearance of the season and third of the World Series, was his first start and he went seven innings, scattering five hits and striking out three batters to improve to 2-1. Ezell pitched the last two innings for his third save, allowing one hit and striking out one.
"It was all about Brad tonight," said Bison Coach Bobby Cox. It was a real gutty performance. We talked about (starting after two relief appearances) with him before the game and he was all in. Trevor hasn't pitched in over a month and a half and shut them down."
The Bison enter the weekend with all three of its usual rotation – Jinny Parra, Nathan Thompson and Carson McPherson – available, having not pitched at all since the regional.
With the shutout, OBU lowered its postseason earned run average to 0.81.
Oklahoma Baptist took a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single by Ryan Joyce.
Moran added RBI singles in both the sixth and eighth innings for the 3-0 lead.
OBU had 10 hits in the game – all singles – led by Moran and Joyce with two each.
