MASON, Ohio – Hunter Heath and Felipe Gonzalez racked up five RBI each and led Oklahoma Baptist to a 12-6 win over Campbellsville Friday to send the Bison to the NCCAA championship game.
The Bison play at noon against Oakland City or Bethesda.
Jinny Parra (12-3) allowed five runs but struck out seven over six innings to pick up the win – the 30th of his career. The school record is 35. He also became the second Bison to eclipse 100 strikeouts this season, bumping his career total to 231, which is sixth on the all-time list.
Carson McPherson got a three-inning save, striking out four.
After falling behind 1-0, OBU scored four in the third to start a string of five consecutive scoring innings.
Heath had a two-run triple and scored on a base hit by Brandon Cuddy. Cuddy scored from second on an RBI single by Gonzalez for the 4-1 lead.
Heath doubled home Dustyn Cook for a 5-1 lead in the fourth.
Ryan Joyce tripled ahead of a two-run home run by Gonzalez for a 7-1 OBU advantage in the fifth.
Campbellsville plated four runs in the sixth, but the Bison answered with three in the bottom of that inning, getting an RBI single by Joyce and a two-run base hit by Gonzalez.
OBU took a 12-5 lead in the seventh on a two-run single by Heath.
The Bison accounted for 14 hits, including three each by Cook, Heath, Joyce and Gonzalez.
OBU will throw Nathan Thompson Saturday. Thompson (8-3) has not pitched since his no-hitter against McMurry in the regional.
