SHAWNEE - Oklahoma Baptist run-ruled East Central before the Bison bats went silent for game two in an 11-1, 0-1 split with the Tigers at Bison Field Saturday.
It was the first shutout of the Bison since 2012, ending a streak of 229 games scoring at least one run.
East Central scored first in the opener, but the Bison added two runs in the home half of the first on three hits and one ECU error. Hunter Heath had an RBI double in the inning.
The Bison made it 3-1 in the fourth on a solo home run by Heath and added two more runs on Cody Ziegler's two-run home run in the sixth.
OBU added five in the seventh with an RBI single by Brandon Cuddy, a two-run triple by Ryan Joyce and a two-run double by Joseph Moran.
The Bison ended the first game on a mercy rule, getting an RBI single by Heath for the 11-1 win in the eighth inning.
Heath hammered out four hits in the game to lead the 16-hit offensive. Kevin Olmeda and Dustyn Cook had three hits apiece and Cuddy and Moran had two each.
Jinny Parra (8-1) was the recipient of the run support and didn't need much help, as he struck out 10 and allowed just one run and four hits over seven innings. Brad Adams struck out two of the three batters he faced in the eighth.
OBU had only two hits against Shae Edmonds, who struck out three Bison and got a few diving outfield catches along the way.
Nathan Thompson was dominant for OBU, allowing one unearned run and striking out 12 in his seven innings of work.
ECU scored the only run of the game in the third inning on a sacrifice fly.
The Bison return to action at home Tuesday, hosting Southwestern Christian in a 6 p.m. contest.
