Bison Take Ouachita Series

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist scored 10 runs for the first time in two weeks in a 10-2 win over Ouachita Baptist Saturday that gave the Bison the series, 2-1.

The Bison had 16 hits to back the 11-strikeout pitching performance of Nathan Thompson (5-3) who allowed two runs on seven hits over eight innings to get the win.


The hosts scored three in the first inning on RBI singles by Brandon Cuddy and Felipe Gonzalez to go with a sacrifice fly by Joseph Moran.

The Bison made it 4-0 in the second when Austin Whitaker scored on a double play ball.

Two more Bison runs scored in the third on an RBI single by Gonzalez and a sacrifice fly by Kevin Olmeda.

Cuddy homered in the fifth to make it 7-0.

Preston Speers broke up the Thompson shutout in the seventh with a two-out, two-run double, but the Bison answered with three in the eighth on RBI doubles by Dustyn Cook and Hunter Heath and a sacrifice fly by Ryan Joyce.

Brad Adams pitched a scoreless ninth to close out the game.

Cook and Gonzalez led the Bison hit parade with three each, while Heath, Cuddy, Moran and Whitaker added two apiece.

Now 27-14 overall and 17-11 in the Great American Conference, the Bison head to Muskogee Tuesday to take on Bacone at 3 p.m.
