Bison Split with Ouachita

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist split a doubleheader with Ouachita Baptist Friday, losing the opener 3-1 in 10 innings before taking the nightcap 4-3.

The teams agreed to move the series finale up to noon on Saturday to avoid bad weather Sunday evening.

The Bison took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on an RBI single by Brandon Cuddy, but Ouachita tied the game in the fifth on a solo home run by Ty Owens and added a two-run home run in the 10th by Preston Speers.

OBU had five hits in the game, including two by Hunter Heath.

Jinny Parra (8-3) took the loss.

The Bison scored all four of their runs in the second game in the first inning, using an RBI single by Heath and a three-run home run by Felipe Gonzalez.

Carson McPherson went the distance for OBU, allowing two earned runs and striking out 10 in seven innings.

OBU had five hits in the game, including two each by Gonzalez and Cuddy.
