SHAWNEE – Three Oklahoma Baptist pitchers combined for 17 strikeouts to lead the Bison to a 6-1 win over Mid-America Christian Tuesday.
All MACU batters that came to the plate, including substitutes, whiffed at least once.
Mike Gould (6-1), making just his second start of the season, struck out 14 batters in his six innings, shutting out the Evangels on three hits.
Trevor Ezell added one strikeout over two innings and Brad Adams fanned two batters in his perfect ninth inning.
OBU got a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a solo home run to right by Brandon Cuddy.
The lead swelled to 4-0 in the third on a three-run single by Felipe Gonzalez.
Kevin Olmeda drove in a run on a fielder's choice in the fourth and Olmeda scored the final run on an error after a base hit by Cuddy in the eighth.
OBU had 11 hits in the game, including four by Cuddy and three by Gonzalez.
The Bison improved to 25-13 with the victory.
OBU has changed up its weekend schedule with Ouachita Baptist because of forecasted raid Saturday. The teams will play a 2 p.m. doubleheader Friday at Bison Field at Ford Park and hope to finish the series with a single game Saturday at 1 p.m.
