SEARCY, Arkansas – Oklahoma Baptist split Saturday's doubleheader at Harding, giving the Bison their first Great American Conference series road win.
The Bison clinched the series with an 8-4 win in the opener, before dropping the finale 4-2.
OBU built a 4-0 lead in the opener with an RBI double by Joseph Moran in the second inning, a solo home run by Trevor Ezell in the second and a two-run single by Kyle Abblitt in the fourth.
Harding scored three in the seventh on a passed ball, a balk and an RBI single by Guest before tying the game in the eighth on an RBI single by Hunter.
OBU responded with a four-run ninth inning. Dustyn Cook gave OBU the 5-4 lead with a sacrifice fly and Brandon Cuddy brought in a run when being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded. Ryan Joyce then produced a two-run double for the final margin.
Mike Gould (3-0) got the win in three innings of relief, fanning four batters.
The Bison had 12 hits, led by Ezell, Cuddy, Moran, Cody Ziegler and Abblitt with two each.
OBU fell behind 2-0 after three innings of the second game on a first-inning RBI single by Guest and a run-scoring wild pitch in the third.
OBU tied the game in the fifth on a two-run home run by Felipe Gonzalez, but Harding added a run in the home half of the inning on an RBI single by Brauss and added an RBI walk in the sixth.
The Bison had only five hits off three against three HU pitchers with Gonzalez getting two.
Blake Whitehead (0-1) took the loss for the Bison.
Now 13-5 overall and 5-4 in the Great American Conference, the Bison host Arkansas Tech in a three-game set next weekend.
