Bison Spank St. Gregory's

SHAWNEE – Ryan Joyce hit two home runs and Chad Bennett took a no-hitter into the fifth inning as Oklahoma Baptist spanked St. Gregory's 12-0 at SGU Tuesday.

Joyce drove in five runs in the game and Bennett completed five innings of shutout baseball, giving up just a fifth-inning single. He struck out 10 batters. Blake Whitehead closed the game out with two scoreless frames and three strikeouts.

OBU got on the scoreboard with three runs in the second inning on a solo home run by Hunter Heath and RBI singles by Austin Whitaker and Dustyn Cook.

Joyce ripped a two-run home run and Kyle Abblitt added an RBI single in the third.

Felipe Gonzalez had an RBI ground out and Whitaker singled in two runs in the fourth for a 9-0 lead.

Joyce added a three-run home run in the fifth for the final margin.

OBU had 10 hits in the game, including three by Whitaker and two by Joyce.

Now 20-6, the Bison start a three-game set at Southwestern Oklahoma State Friday with a 2 p.m. game.
