Bison Win SWOSU Series Opener, 9-2

WEATHERFORD – Oklahoma Baptist posted nine runs and Jinny Parra collected his seventh win of the season in a 9-2 Bison win at Southwestern Oklahoma State Friday.

Parra pitched seven innings, striking out three, to help propel the Bison past the Bulldogs and into second place in the Great American Conference standings.


Brad Adams pitched two innings of one-hit relief.

Cody Ziegler ripped his fifth home run of the season for a 2-0 OBU lead in the second inning and Brandon Cuddy doubled and eventually scored on a passed ball to make it 3-0 in the third.

Dustyn Cook added an RBI double and scored on an RBI ground out by Kevin Olmeda to make it a 5-0 Bison lead in the fourth.

Southwestern chipped away at the lead with an RBI single by Jacob Spring in the fifth and a solo home run by Trent Troxell in the sixth.

OBU iced the game with a four-run eighth with an RBI single by Ziegler, a two-run single by Cuddy and an RBI single by Ryan Joyce.

The Bison had 11 hits in the game, including three each by Cuddy and Ziegler and two by Cook.

Now 21-6 overall and 12-4 in the GAC, the Bison finish out their series with the Bulldogs with a doubleheader in Weatherford, starting at 1 p.m., Saturday.
