Bison Hold Off Rangers

SHAWNEE – Hunter Heath drove in five runs and Oklahoma Baptist held on for a 5-3 win to start it series with Northwestern Oklahoma State Saturday at Bison Field.

Jinny Parra (6-1) threw his third consecutive complete-game and struck out 10 against no walks.


OBU scored the first two runs of the game in the second when Ryan Joyce singled ahead of Heath's fifth home run of the season.

Heath ripped a three-run double with two outs in the third for a 5-0 lead.


The Rangers broke up Parra's shutout bid in the sixth on an RBI single by Cooper Stanley. Northwestern added two more in the ninth on RBI singles by Colton Krokroskia and Tito Montano before Parra got out of the inning with the tying run stranded at first.

OBU had four hits in the game with Heath leading the attack with two.

The teams finish off the three-game series with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Sunday.
