Bison Burn Bacone

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist stepped outside of conference action Monday and torched Bacone 15-0.

The Bison got a combined shutout from Chad Bennett, Brad Adams and Blake Whitehead with the trio collecting eight strikeouts.

OBU put six runs on the scoreboard in the first inning with a three-run home run by Brandon Cuddy, followed directly by a solo home run by Ryan Joyce. Joseph Moran and Kyle Abblitt added RBI singles.

OBU notched two more runs in the fourth with runs scoring on a wild pitch and a passed ball.

Five more Bison crossed the plate in the fifth one a two-run double by Joyce and a three-run home run by Hunter Heath.

OBU made it 14-0 in the sixth and 15-0 in the eighth on sacrifice flies by Abblitt and Dustyn Cook.

OBU had 10 hits in the game, including two each by Cuddy, Joyce and Abblitt.

Now 11-4 on the season, the Bison play at Harding in the three-game set Friday and Saturday in Searcy, Arkansas. The series begins with a single game at 2 p.m. on Friday.
