SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist men's soccer will face a familiar opponent in Southwestern Christian in semifinal match of the NCCAA National Championship Friday afternoon in Kissimmee, Florida.

This marks the third meeting this season between the Bison (14-8-2) and the Eagles (13-5-5). Southwestern Christian won the fifth match of the season 3-1, while the two played to a 1-1 tie in the NCCAA Central Region Championship just two weeks ago. OBU advanced as regional champions 4-2 in penalty kicks.

The Bison average 2.71 goals per match on 14.5 shots, while allowing 1.83 goals on 15.0 shots per match. In postseason play this year, OBU is 3-2-1, and 2-1-1 in matches played on a neutral field.

Thiago Dos Santos is coming off a record-setting five-goal performance against Houghton. The freshman from Natal, Brazil, scored six goals in two pool play matches and has a team-high 17 goals on the season.
Vicente Castillo has scored 13 goals and assisted on another six, and
Jonathan Martinez leads the team with eight assists.
Bronson Wise has started four straight matches in goal and enters Friday with a 2.12 goals-allowed average on a .660 save percentage.

Southwestern Christian is a former Sooner Athletic Conference rival in the NAIA. The Eagles have outscored opponents 47-20 this season and have registered 41 assists, which ranks 28th in the NAIA. Igor Stojanovic is the team points leader with eight goals scored and seven assists, while Matheus Goviea leads the team with nine goals. Caleb Swanepoel has a goals-allowed average of 1.07 with a .768 save percentage in the net for the Eagles.

Oklahoma Baptist will advance to the NCCAA Championship with a win, where they will face either Emmanuel or Bethel (Ind.). The championship match is scheduled for 5:45 p.m. Saturday.
